Advent Initiative 2023

How can we put a smile on a child’s face in the Holy Land this Christmas?

How can we put a smile on a child’s face in the Holy Land this Christmas?

A BBC-sponsored 2023 Advent Initiative

Background

We are saddened by the devastation in the Holy Land that is impacting many innocent people, including children. To date, over 6,000 children have died in this war.

In a 2023 webinar with Presiding Bishop Michael Curry, Archbishop Hosam Naoum of the Diocese of Jerusalem, asked “How can we put a smile on a child’s face in the Holy Land this Christmas?

The Initiative

During the 23 days of Advent, our mission was to find a way to lift the spirits of children impacted by this conflict. We wanted all children, no matter their religion (Jewish, Muslim, or Christian), to feel hope during the Advent season.

We invited you to share reflections or actions as words of the heart are always welcomed. Monetary donations continued to help, as over a million of God’s children have no homes because of the war. Please consider donating to one of the charities listed below that are actively working to alleviate suffering in the Holy Land.
