The Joy of Generosity
“It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). At Christ Episcopal Roanoke, we encourage a culture of giving. Every gift makes an incredible difference to our ministries, our parishioners, and the local and global programs our “Feed the Hungry” offerings support. Give a single gift online or in person. You can even set up recurring donations through PayPal. We are so grateful for your commitment and generosity to Christ Church.

Giving To Christ Church
GIVING
The generous gifts of our members and friends keep ministries of love and compassion flowing at Christ Church. We need offerings of time, energy, and commitment, but financial support is also essential. Here are some ways you can give:
ANNUAL PLEDGE
Most of our members make formal commitments to support Christ Church financially each year. The fall Pledge Campaign (usually in October and November) provides a special opportunity to reflect on God’s gifts to us and to invite generous giving toward God’s work through Christ Church. Proportional giving (basing your level of giving on your level of income) is encouraged. Pledge cards are always available at the Church and can also be accessed here.
WEEKLY OFFERINGS
Each Sunday and holy day, we receive the gifts of the congregation and place them on the altar with the bread and wine of the Eucharist. These gifts represent contributions from members, visitors, and friends, as well as those made in fulfillment of pledges. Your gift in the offering plate is always a welcome contribution toward support of our ministries.
FEED THE HUNGRY
Each month we designate a different organization to receive our Feed the Hungry Offering. Many of the gifts we receive are small (we can tell some are from children!), but many gifts together can make a big difference to people who are hungry, homeless, or in crisis. Recipient organizations included Episcopal Relief and Development, Heifer International, Roanoke Area Ministries, Shelter Box, the Wounded Warrior Project, and a host of others. Special Feed the Hungry offering envelopes are available for use in the pew racks.
ONLINE GIVING
If you prefer to give with the click of a mouse, online giving through PayPal is now available. To use this option, look for the PayPal logo on the right. Once you are on the PayPal page, enter the amount you plan to give. If you have a PayPal account, you can sign in and your billing information will be entered automatically. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you will need to fill in your billing information. Then just follow the rest of the instructions. It’s easy, quick, and it helps Christ Church.
STOCKS AND SECURITIES
Gifts of stocks or securities are always welcome. For information on how to arrange for a transfer, please contact the Parish Office at 540.343.0159 or office@christroanoke.org. We will be glad to assist you.
FLOWERS
The flowers that decorate Christ Church are given by members or friends of the parish, often in memory of, or in honor of, someone special — or in thanksgiving for a special blessing or event. The names you designate will appear in the Sunday service leaflet.
ESTATE PLANNING
As you prepare for the distribution of your worldly assets after your death, please consider a final gift in support of the work of Christ Church. Such gifts may be designated for a specific project or ministry; or they may be undesignated, to be used where they are needed at the time they are received. We are glad to consult with you about your desires and the special needs of the parish.
MEMORIAL AND THANKSGIVING GIFTS
Gifts in memory of a friend or loved one, or in thanksgiving for an individual or event, may be made at any time. Gifts designated for a new project must be approved by the Rector and/or Vestry. General (undesignated) gifts to the Memorial Fund will be used as needed to further the ministries of Christ Church. Once memorial/thanksgiving funds have been expended or a special project completed, the gift is recorded in the Memorial Book on display at the Franklin Road entrance to the Church.
PERPETUAL MEMORIAL FUND
Through generous bequests and other special gifts, the Perpetual Memorial Fund provides a modest endowment for Christ Church ministries. Gifts to the fund may be made to honor a friend or loved one, either living or deceased. Each year on All Saints Day, we publish a brochure which lists all the gifts made since the inception of the fund along with the memorial or thanksgiving designations; an accounting of how funds were expended during the year is also included. An individual may be memorialized with a gift minimum of $100.
KROGER COMMUNITY REWARDS
Through the Kroger Community Rewards program, members and friends can link their Kroger Plus card to Christ Episcopal Church. Call the Parish Office to find out the steps to create the link and then every time you check out at the register, give your Kroger Plus card to the cashier for swiping. At the end of every quarter, Kroger will split $875,000.00 total among participating organizations based on their percentage of spending. For Kroger shoppers, this is an excellent way of supporting Christ Church while also simplifying the checkout process.
